The 2017-18 PGA Tour schedule continues this week at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
Following Woods is Patrick Cantlay (+1500) and Justin Rose (+1700). Cantlay finished in fourth place at 14-under par in the 2018 Memorial Tournament. Given how well Catlay played in this tournament last year, it should come as no surprise that he has the third-best odds to win outright this weekend. Solo leader at the Masters: Patrick Cantlay. UPDATE No. 10 (6:30 p.m. ET): DeChambeau is your 54-hole leader. Here’s the day’s recap…
UPDATE No. 9 (5:50 p.m. ET): An updated leaderboard….
DeChambeau and Stanley are tied at the top.
UPDATE No. 8 (5:07 p.m. ET): We have a four-way tie for the lead now! Bryson DeChambeau joins Patrick Cantlay, Kyle Stanley and Joaquin Niemann at the top at 13 under with this putt…
UPDATE No. 7 (4:13 p.m. ET): Joaquin Niemann took the lead by eagling the par-5 seventh to move to 13 under. He’s since bogeyed the 10th, though, and Patrick Cantlay eagled the 15th to move to 13 under.
Cantlay leads by one over Niemann and Justin Rose (who is through 14). Kyle Stanley is 11 under through 10.
UPDATE No. 6 (2:35 p.m. ET): A 7-iron from 185 yards finds the bottom of the cup for a hole-in-one and Patrick Cantlay is your new solo leader!
He moves to 11 under after that ace at the eighth. Stanley and Niemann have both bogeyed to drop to 10 under.
UPDATE No. 5 (1:55 p.m. ET): The leaders are finally off, with Kyle Stanley and Joaquin Niemann going off No. 1.
They remain in front at 11 under, but Tiger Woods is now one back after playing his first 11 in 5 under. Justin Rose and Byeon Hun An are T-4 at 9 under early in their rounds. Rory McIlroy (74-70-64) and Justin Thomas (5 under through 17) are both at 8 under. Phil Mickelson (3 under through 13) is 7 under overall.
UPDATE No. 4 (12:45 p.m. ET): Phil Mickelson makes four straight birdies from Nos. 4-7 and he’s now 7 under and four back.
Remember, he came home in 30 yesterday to not only make the weekend but himself on the fringe of contention heading into Saturday.
UPDATE No. 3 (12:10 p.m. ET): McIlroy has to scramble around the last three holes, but he somehow comes out of it with three straight pars.
That means an 8-under 64 for Rors. He’s now T-4 after starting the day T-69. He’ll probably be worse than T-4 and within three of the lead by day’s end. Regardless, he’s back in contention here.
UPDATE No. 2 (11:30 a.m. ET): McIlroy birdies Nos. 12 and 13 as well!
He actually parred 14 and 15 (despite having just 205 yards for his second shot at the par 5), but he’s now 8 under for the round and overall. He’s jumped 65 spots to T-4 and is now just three back.
Chris Kirk is in with a 66 and is T-17 at 6 under. Some other low rounds out there today, but nobody has touched Rory’s.
UPDATE No. 1 (10:40 a.m. ET): Are low scores out there Saturday at Muirfield Village? They sure are!
Rory McIlroy is 6 under through 11 on his round and rocketed 54 spots to a tie for 15th at 6 under. The same with Chris Kirk (through 14), and he made the cut on the number, like McIlroy, after making par following a topped tee shot. David Lingmerth is 7 under through eight and now T-3 at 9 under.
Of course, once the lead groups go off, they will make birdies, too, we imagine, and these guys won’t be so far up the leaderboard. Regardless, this is nice to see.

The fairways at Muirfield are fairly generous but the rough, consisting of a blend of Kentucky bluegrass, rye and fescue, is pretty horrendous. Expect to make a bogey or worse if you find yourself in the high stuff. The small, hard to hit Bentgrass greens run at 13 on the Stimpmeter which alike the greens at Augusta, so players will need to be comfortable with the quick and slick surfaces. Most of the Par 5’s are birdie holes so making pars on them will leave you behind in the field.
Apart from the scoreable Par 5’s, not many Par 4’s are easy here with six of the ten Par 4 “s measuring over 450 yards. Eight of the Top-10 players in the world will be on hand to compete including Tiger Woods who has the event a record five times. New World No. 1 Justin Thomas is one of the five favorites +1200, according to Bovada Sportsbook, to capture the event. Thomas finished fourth here last year. Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, 2010 winner Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy round up the Top-5.
