Pokerstars recently started offering new players a 100% matching bonus up to $600. This is the first time in years that Pokerstars has offered a bonus bigger than $50. We don’t know how long they will have this bonus around, so it would be wise to get it while it’s available. If you don’t already have an account at Pokerstars, this is definitely the time to get signed up. Use Pokerstars marketing codeTEN500 and bonus codeStars600 to get your bonus.
The new Pokerstars bonus is huge, but it’s also fairly simple to clear. The new bonus requires players to earn 17 Frequent Player Points per bonus dollar. New players have 180 days to clear the bonus, and it is paid directly into player accounts in $10 increments. Each time you earn 170 FPP’s, another $10 will be automatically credited to your account.
Most players can earn the required Frequent Player Points in a reasonable amount of time. Those that play in $.25/.50 NL, $.50/1 FL or higher stakes cash games will breeze right through it.
Micro-stakes players will have a bit of a grind, but that’s no different from any other poker room. There’s good news for micro-stakes players however. When Pokerstars had their $50 bonus, micro-stakes players couldn’t earn any bonus playing in cash games. However, the clearing requirements were changed when Pokerstars started offering this new bonus, and micro-stakes players earn FPP’s in cash games now…and thus they can earn bonus money now too. Good news indeed.
Players earn 5 FPP’s per dollar paid in tournament fees. This is a 29.4% bonus return, which is decent. If you play in a $10+1 tournament for example, you’ll earn 5 FPP’s, or $.29 in bonus.
Players can only use the Pokerstars promo codeTEN500 (also called Codice Marketing Pokerstars for Italian players) and bonus code Stars600 for their initial deposit. Even if you aren’t going to make a deposit when you first register to play, be sure to use the promo code (marketing code). Whenever you decide to make your first deposit, your Pokerstars promo code will kick in and allow you to earn the bonus.
Players earn 5 Pokerstars FPP’s per dollar paid in tournament fees. So, a tournament that cost $10 + 1 would earn you 5 FPP’s. A tournament that cost $55+5 would earn you 25 FPP’s. If you play in a tournament with a fee of less than one dollar, partial points are awarded. For example, a tournament with a $.20 fee will earn 1 point.
Players earn FPP’s in cash games at the following rate:
- $1/2 or lower stakes cash games: Earn 1 point when the rake reaches $.20.
- At all tables above $1/2 stakes: Earn 1 point when the rake reaches $1.
- At all one-on-one tables: Earn 1 point when the rake reaches $.20.
Earn a second Frequent Player Point:
- At any cash game when the rake reaches $3.
- At six-max tables when the rake reaches $2.
Earn a third Frequent Player Point when:
- Any game reaches a rake of $5.
