15, 2019 - Celtics 105 at Warriors 100, Boston -7, Under 223 (SU-Straight Up, ATS - Against the Spread, OU - Over-Under) Boston Celtics Betting Outlook Inside the Stats (2020-2021). Below, we analyze the Celtics-Warriors NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions. Celtics SF Jayson Tatum ’s five-game absence from Jan. 15-24 after testing positive for COVID-19 was the main contributor in the team’s 2-5 straight-up record (3-4 against the spread) over the last seven games. The Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors take the floor at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday in San Francisco. Boston is favored by 2.5 points at William Hill Sportsbook, while the Over-Under is set at 227 (see up-to-date odds for every game this week on our NBA odds page). The payouts are better in moneyline betting. And future odds – who will win the NBA championship – are always changing and always generating mainstream buzz. An injury to James Harden may send the Rockets’ title odds tumbling, while a key trade or hot streak may send a team’s NBA championship odds from 50/1 to 20/1 in just a few days. Over their seven-game slump — in which they’ve lost five games — the Celtics have had a difficult time scoring the basketball, ranking 22nd in the NBA with a 108.5 Offensive Rating. That’s not what you want to hear when you’re getting set to play a strong defensive club, but as we’ll get to in a little bit the Warriors’ defense.
The Boston Celtics (10-8) visit the Golden State Warriors (11-9) for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off at Chase Center Tuesday. Below, we analyze the Celtics-Warriors NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.
Celtics SF Jayson Tatum’s five-game absence from Jan. 15-24 after testing positive for COVID-19 was the main contributor in the team’s 2-5 straight-up record (3-4 against the spread) over the last seven games. The Celtic have lost two in a row—to the San Antonio Spurs last Wednesday and the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday. Tatum played in both.
The Warriors played pretty well in the second half of January, winning back-to-back games over the Lakers and Spurs, which was part of a 5-3 record (5-3 ATS) to end the month. Over that stretch, Golden State was eighth in net rating and effective field-goal percentage.

Celtics 117, Warriors 110
For me, the two biggest factors in this game are Boston’s motivation and Golden State’s injury report. The Warriors are going to be without Wiseman—who’s the team’s active leader in rebounds per game and third-leading scorer—and their sixth man in Paschall.
While the Celtics’ last two losses are nothing to be ashamed of, Boston isn’t where it wants to be in the standings and we haven’t seen its best basketball yet.
Golden State’s offense is too dependent on PG Steph Curry spacing the floor and Boston’s defense has held opponents to the lowest 3-point percentage in the NBA since Jan. 14, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.
I leanCELTICS (-140) because I could go either way on Boston’s money line or spread.
Since I prefer to not fuss with the points, I only leanCELTICS -2.5 (-110) but Boston is the right side here.
The Celtics are coming off a single-point loss to the Lakers whereas the Warriors beat the Lakers 115-113 in their most recent meeting. Why that’s important is because this is also a statement game.
The last nine Celtics-Warriors games have gone Under the projected total and Tatum has never scored 20 points when playing against SF Andrew Wiggins in four career games, and he has scored 20 or more only twice in his seven career games against SF Kelly Oubre Jr.
Golden State’s 29th ranking in opponent’s FTA/FGA rate mixed with the Celtics-Warriors officiating crew having a combined 28-13 O/U record this season causes me to PASS ON THE TOTAL.
